After our visit to Calgary, we headed north into the Canadian Rockies through Banff National Park. Banff National Park was the first one in the Canadian park system and is celebrating its 100th anniversary this year. It includes Lake Louise as well as Banff. We camped for 2 nights outside of Lake Louise village and had time to explore the area on our own. We saw some wildlife, the most impressive being the grizzly bear that I did not get a picture of. While we were in Banff we visited the hot springs but were a bit disappointed in the fact that it was a swimming pool with very warm sulfur water. They had a very cold, snowy winter and, as you can see, there is still quite a lot of snow in the mountains. The days are very comfortable and I am still able to wear capris and sandals most of the time then it cools off after dark (about 10 pm).
