These were on our trips on the Grapevine railroad to Fort Worth and to the Fort Worth Zoo. Both days were equally as hot (at least 100) but they were fun as we got to spend some time with our oldest daughter, Carol and our 4 year old grandson, Jovin. The train trip took about 1 1/2 hours and went from the town of Grapevine to the Historic Fort Worth Stockyards where they drive cattle down the main street of the old part of Fort Worth every day for the tourists and city employees are actually paid to dress as cowboys and sit around on horses all day. The old meat packing plants for Swift and Wilson are in the distance. The ultimate destination for the cows. Jovin got to sit on a Texas longhorn cow for a photo op.
The Fort Woth Zoo is rated as one of the top small zoos in the country and it was very nice. Jovin was sitting in front of the hawk's cage and, every time he raised his arm or moved his head to the side the hawk would mimick the movements. Maybe we have a "hawk whisperer" on our hands.
