ROCK SPRINGS, WY and VERNAL, UT

An overnight stop in Rock Springs, WY with a campfire and dessert.  The menu consisted of S'mores and Doughboys (aka Slugs).  Doughboys are crescent rolls shaped over a special wooden stick which, when cooked, form a hollow tube.  The tube is then filled with pie fillings, whipped cream or anything else you can think of.  They were delicious and a delight for those of us that had never had them before. We also had some great entertainment by Ira Miller who serenaded us on his beautiful bass guitar.
The next day's drive took us to Vernal, Utah with in route stops at the Flaming Gorge Dam and the Flaming Gorge and Red Canyon.  Some of the guests toured the dam and most stopped at the gorge.
Nothing much to say about the dam but the views from the top of the canyon were fantastic.  What didn't show up in the pix was the beautiful red colors.
The highlight in Vernal is the number of dinosaur fossils found there over time.  It is a place to keep in mind for all of us who have pre-teen grandsons.  The museum and the National Monument were both excellent stops. To actually be able to touch a dinosaur bone was an interesting plus.

ARE THEY DONE YET?
