MARDI GRAS DAYS 6 THRU 8

Wednesday was a free day for the guests but we prepared a New Orleans style shrimp boil.  Lots of shrimp, potatoes, corn and sausage with a bit of Louisiana spice.  I can safely say that everyone enjoyed the meal.
Thursday started off with a light breakfast since we weren't scheduled to eat lunch until about 2 pm aboard the Steamboat Natchez.  It was a beautiful day to take a cruise on the Mississippi.  After the cruise we found our seating area to watch the evening's parades - the first were Babylon and Chaos and last the highlight being Muses which is an all female krewe that throws shoes along with all the usual "throws".  Two of our guests caught shoes which are beautifully decorated and, literally, one of a kind. These shoes can be sold on e-bay for thousands of dollars.
On Friday we visited the New Orleans School of Cooking where we got a lesson on how to make gumbo, crawfish etoufee, bread pudding and pralines then ate all of it.  Lots of fun and DELICIOUS.  After lunch, we walked to Bourbon street to watch the afternoon's festivities.  There was a walking parade as well as people watching.  A fun afternoon of craziness .
