We haven't done our blog for a while since we were in DC in early June. Most of these pictures will be familiar. This one is the Capitol from the National Mall. We didn't get to the Capitol - just ran out of time. The bronze statue is from the Museum of the American Indian. That was one of the Smithsonian museum we had not visited ye. It was very interesting. The next picture is the Vietnam Memorial. There is also a memorial to Women in Service in Vietnam that I had not seen before.

Our visit to Arlington cemetery with our friends the Langes. The first picture is of me and Roseann at the Women's Memorial.
The two picures below were taken at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier. The one on the left was at the "Changing of the Guard" ceremony. Of course we visited JFK's grave and the triangular monument is a Coast Guard Memorial from World War I. If you zoom in it says "World War" which indicates that it has been around a long time. Even Ken didn't realize before this visit that there was a Coast Guard Memorial there. It lists the names of the crew of two ships (the Tampa and the Seneca) that were sunk during WWI.

SITE OF JFK ASSASINATION, DALLAS, TEXAS
Recently while visiting Kristine & Hank we drove into Dallas and marked one more place off our have to visit list. This is a map of the area where JFK was assassinated. The arrow points to the exact spot where it happened. The next picture is of the building (the Sixth Street School Book Depository) which is smply called the Sixth Street Museum. The next picture shows the window that Lee Harvey Oswald shot President Kennedy from. There is a mock-up of how Lee Harvey Oswald was positioned for the shooting - including a rifle sticking out the window. The last shot is of the infamous "grassy knoll" where they originally thought the shots were fired from. The Museum was done very well and concentrated on Kennedy's life as well as his death.

ESCAPADE 2009 SEDALIA MISSOURI
The last week in May was one of the RV rallies we are doing this summer for Adventure Caravans. It is the 2009 ESCAPADE in Sedalia, Missouri. This was a long show almost a whole week. A lot of hours on our feet. Fortunately Bob & Pat Beitler were able to work with us and help out. Bob & Pat became friends on the Mexico trip we did together a couple of years ago as guests. Now here we are all staff together. AVC donated the grand prize for the show and we had the opportunity to pick the winner and make the presentation. The prize was the 23 day Maritimes trip, the same one we did last year. The show went well except for the almost continuous rain which led to a lot of mud when we left. There were 750 rigs at the Escapade and 200+ had to be pulled from the mud. Both of us made it out ok. PHOTO OF OUR BOOTH
KITTY AND US JUST RELAXING
This is a "late entry" to our blog since these shots were taken while we were still in Tennessee in early May. The picture to the right is actually someone's dream home. he has been working on it for about 20 years. Living quarters are in the turrets and the brick area between is a huge open area for receptions and parties. The other shots are of comedians and a Birds of Prey demonstration. Unfortunately, it was so wet, rainy and muddy we didn't get to see any other preformances, like jousting.
